Some consumers find pellet or corn burning a good  alternative to wood burning.  For home owners with no access to firewood (or no time to cut it),  pellet stove technology may be a perfect fit.

All corn burning stoves are pellet stoves; however, all pellet stoves are not corn burning stoves.  Manufacturers must test their models

for the fuels approved to be burned.

“Pellet Stove” is a category of hearth

products which attains excellent fuel

efficiency, better heat transfer than a

radiant appliance, and standard high-

limit safety components.

             Pellet-style stoves have a built-

in hopper for loading fuel, and use a

short auger to feed the fuel to the fire

at the heat setting of your choice.  Most

corn burning models do not use an automatic ignitor for starting the fire, but are easily started with  a handful of wood pellets.  Most stoves designed to burn 100% pellets have an automatic  electric ignitor.

These two St. Croix Stove models are designed for 100% wood pellets.

They have also been tested and approved for adding up to 50% dry corn with the pellet fuel.

Harman Pellet Stove models are approved for pellets only.
